Hi, My name is Zhaoyuan “Nick” Su

I am a 5th year PhD Candidate in Informatics at the University of California Irvine.

I am advised by Dr. Yunan Chen in the Health and Information Lab.

I am a Human-Computer Interaction, Computer supported Cooperative Work and Health Informatics research. Situated in the healthcare contexts, my research examines the design and use of data-driven systems, and their impact on children and caregivers through a socio-technical lens.

My research goal is to cultivate health data literacy in children’s care ecosystem, specifically to facilitate children, parents, and healthcare providers to better care for children’s health and wellness through data.

I have conducted qualitative research at Intuitive Surgical to support surgical teams with learning da Vinci surgical robot, and at Meta, to support engineering roles and cross-functional teams with work productivity.

Before UC Irvine, I received my B.S. degree in Architecture with a minor in Informatics from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, where I was mentored by Dr. Karrie Karahalios.
